Interested in buying one of these. Will be used for city driving mainly. Almost all I'm looking at are 4WD. Does that mean they will be hard on fuel?
    Thanks in advance.

Slightly harder on fuel than 2wd but still not hard on fuel. I wouldn’t bother with 4wd unless you actually need it over 2wd.

I was looking to buy up north. Charles Hurst has lots but they are all 4WD. Don't seem to be that many FWD around. Either 4WD or AWD ! May not have a choice.

Check the VRT. You may be shocked at how they value them vs the NI price.

The Lexus system is AWD so it won't be much heavier on fuel than a 2WD model.
Modern AWD is nothing like traditional 4WD, you don't have the extra mechanical stuff like transfer boxes etc etc etc.

It's intelligent electronics, yes of course you have a drive shaft to both axles but that's not much weight to be fair. Also the vehicle will be in two wheel drive mostly, only putting drive to the other wheels when required.

A full fat 4WD thing has drive to all 4 wheels all the time. modern AWD systems don't.

I'd go AWD over two wheel drive without hesitation. AWD is really great IMO.
I'm averaging 38mpg in a Kia Sorento AWD. The AWD is not heavy on the pocket.

Sorry, I'm a little confused. I asked the dealer if his were 4WD or AWD. He said 4WD.

The awd uses an electric motor to drive the rear wheels, the front wheels are driven by the petrol/electric hybrid system. Same with the RX.

There isn’t an option to have either/or. You have 2wd models and AWD models.
AWD drives 4 wheels so this is why the dealer is calling it 4WD.

There are differences between AWD and 4WD, but I don’t think it’ll add anything to the thread to get into them.

    It's AWD :)
To be fair to the dealer some manufacturers call AWD systems 4WD, Lexus don't though :)

AWD/4WD to most people including dealers is similar to all SUVs/4x4s being referred to as jeeps. They will probably leave this world when the time comes not knowing or caring either.
