I think it's more a case of some people not being happy with who they are so they try to fit in with whatever the trendy cause is. Most people are grumpy because we have been caught up in the cosumerist gravy train killing ourselves with work to buy crap we dont need. We are richer than ever but also working harder then ever and therefore have no patience when things go wrong.

I am regularly given out to by family for never spending my money on things. I don't mean bills or shopping just o don't really buy much stuff.
I don't Iv ever had the urge to buy stuff I don't need. Lots of the people I work with are constantly buying crap online that gets delivered to the office. These are the same people that say they can't wait for payday.
