Looking at reseeding a 4 acre field here, first field to be reseeded here in over 20 years, soil sample will be taken and lime applied accordingly. Just wondering what kind of money it would take to reseed this field including spray, spraying off, ploughing, grass seed, sowing and rolling. Looking to sow a grass variety with a high clover content.

Yes around €300 acre, .... a re seed will need to be welll fertilised above and beyond old ley land for a number of years to naintain the new grasses.

OP before you ever start reseeding you should get your farm fertility right and weed control across the complete. Reseeding is only profitable where you can do part of it yourself( spraying, setting, rolling). If you get a contractor in to do all the work it will cost even above 300/acre. Contractor's are not really viable for small area.

The first thing to do is soil test the complete farm. Get PH right across complete farm. Spray weeds on complete farm. If you spend 1200 euro spraying weeds( if they are an issue) you will increase grass output by 15-30%.

When that is all right reseed then if you need to

    See some around here
Grazing tight, spray for total kill, 10 days later 3/4 runs with pin harrow, seed & fertilizer, roll.
Lime would be a good addition
You need your PH, P & K right to get best results
