VAT number format

Im trading as sole-trader, as an individual, and I am trying to guess the format of the VAT number that the revenue are issuing to me this month.

Is the following correct? (and is it ending A or FA)

I believe its based on my PPS number. Based combination from the below blogs discussing the new format VAT numbers from 1 Jan 2013, I think it has changed from 7 digits, followed by "IE" to now be 7 numbers followed by an "A" (or "FA"?).

My PPS number is 7 digits and a letter, so I think the VAT number is 7 digits, letter and finally "A".

Any examples people can provide?

For sole trades the vat number is almost always their pps number.

Just the PPS number, no additional characters?

The same letter that's in your current pps number.

For foreign sellers where you have to include your pps number to get off vat also add in an ie but that's not a normal part of the vat number.

for info, got the VAT number.

Format is "IE <pps number>". My PPS number includes a letter. No differentiation between local or international trading.
