People like that should be melted down publicly as a deterrent to others.

Just heard it on the radio.
It's shocking and the scale of it too.

    Poor children.

I have no bother standing up for traveller rights etc(they need all help they get)....but full force of law should be applied to all active paedophiles

    All related too...

Perhaps that's why the location of the court couldn't be included in the report as it could have given the game away.

The ‘community’ bit? Possibly but could also just mean the same locality.

Idk....but i apologise without delay 100% if i took up.that article wrong (it may not even be related to op story) or applied it wrongly here to traveller community

There are several small inter-connectes religious type communes down around there aswell...it could be them....i cant think anything else that fits

Firstly because there probably aren't enough cells free, and secondly because their lives would probably be in great danger in any prison in Ireland.

And, while it's sometimes gratifying to read about certain prisoners being assaulted in prison, the level of compensation subsequently awarded to the victims is often pretty big.

Ya...that is what i was going off

Like i said.i.could be 100% wrong or it could be religious communes down around there too.....they usually refer to emselves as communitys

You can't think of anything that fits the description laid out in the tabloid article quoted?

I'm no defender of religion nor traveller, but knee jerk accusations based on "intuition" don't do anyone any favours.

Suffice it to say that the info supplied in the article could also just as easily allude to an extended multi generational family living in a rural area and in relatively close proximity to each other. ;)

There is enough outrage here for just the Paedo's without needing to rope in Travellers or priests too just based on your incorrect hunch don't you think?

Does this relate to the traveller group mentioned last year who were passing their kids around?

 the Healy-Raes. Jeebus, I'm shocked!

WOULD ALL READERS - ESPECIALLY LAWYERS - PLEASE NOTE: THE ABOVE IS A LIGHT-HEARTED COMMENT AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD IT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY!

If you harm a child then you should just be considered incompatible with society and put behind bars for life. Or hung. Maybe give them a choice. Should never ever be allowed out unsupervised though.

Any sign of the Minister For Children commenting on this story?

She CANNOT under any circumstances comment on an ongoing trial.

Remember Harney sticking her big fat foot into the Haughey prosecution?

The original thread on this when it broke last year is here
    https://touch.boards.ie/thread/2057848397/1

Expect the thread to be closed shortly though in line with Boards rules.

I hope the victims can recover and get all the support they will need.

This is the scary bit for me though..... imagine they have this amount of time to keep on doing what they are alleged to have done if they want to.

Each of the eleven accused were remanded on bail to appear before the same court again, on November 21th, for mention of when the State’s book of evidence in the case would be finalised.

If, and it's only an IF, they are from the ethnic community, at least the Gardai and the DPP were not afraid of being called racist like in Rochdale. The Police Chief there at the time got an OBE today though. That's nice.

The church won't take paedophiles any more. So where do you think they go instead ....

The children have been removed from the situation and they are not travellers. I understand the guards etc have to have strong evidence to bring a case (and to arrest them in the first place), but by November it will be 18months or more since it came to light. That just seems so long?

Are they foreigners?, they had to surrender passports which usually only happens to those with connections outside the country.

    A blink of the eye.

A simple coroner's inquest can take 3-4yrs here. The law moves slowly.

I'm absolutely heartbroken for those children. They have a long and difficult road ahead of them. Supports for children who experience abuse are virtually non existent. Those people are out on bail until November, that seems incredibly slow.

Surrender of Passports is an extremely common bail condition.
Nationality has nothing to do with it.
But just to clarify, these particular animals are Irish born and bred.
