Global job losses:" it is too early to comment on the impact on Irish Operations"

    Why?

This happens with so many companies...Tesco, Aviva, Axa off top of my head.

Why is the Irish market so secret? In many cases, they can say the UK numbers without the irish ones, which only come on stream months later.

Its not as if Ireland gets extra time. Most times, the jobs go on same day or week as the ones abroad.

Is anyone able to read between the lines of why the companies don't just break it down on the day?

It's not about secrecy, it's about setting expectations or not. What if it takes time to figure out exactly how many jobs will be lost? People latch on to the first number they hear, then get upset if they hear a different number later.

If you asked the German / French / Italian whatever spokesperson you would get the same answer.

Irish market conditions very different... there's been job losses here with Aviva when none in UK, and this time around could be vice versa.
