Hi I picked up a 191 Skoda Kodiaq yesterday and traded in my northern reg 5 Series.

The log book V5 for the % series is in Derry so I told the dealer I would drop it down next week.

What sections do I need to fill in and send off in order for the transfer of ownership, and for me to get my tax back (UK).

There is a section about permanently exporting the vehicle but then I would be liable for VRT I think. Can I just do a transfer of ownership and let the sealer worry about importing it and paying the VRT?

hopefully some of you have had experience of this and can tell me the best /correct course of action.

    Roddy

Just to clarify im now living in Dundalk and intend on keeping the Skoda in Ireland.

My understanding is that if you traded the car down here to a dealer in the south then you need to give the entire V5c to the dealer. You can keep the permanent export section and send that bit off to the DVLA in Swansea to inform them the car is just that, permanently exported and you are no longer the registered keeper in the UK.

    Perfect, that's what i'll do.
The dealer was half hinting that I should bring it in and pay the VRT, thats their problem now in my book.
