    Hi,

Does anyone use the following link for checking prices at the factories.
    https://publicapps.agriculture.gov.ie/bpw#factoriesPage

I am looking at the steers and it is showing 430.16 in ABP Bandon last week (Week ending May 26th)
Is this correct - seems very high?
Also is this the base price that is paid or how does it reflect the price paid by the factory?

    Thanks

It says it's take home price inclusive of vat, you can select different grades on the drop down menu. I have no idea how accurate it is our how often is updated.

These prices would include all bonuses. 12cent quality bonus, breed bonus (if applicable) maybe 15cent this time of year and if a u grade an extra 12-18 cent per kg.
It is a useless way of looking up the price of beef. All you can look at is the base price. You will find very few bullocks hit 4.30 that week

The beef price watch is the average R30
Price from as far as I can see. It is
Not skewed by U prices just like other factory prices are not reduced by O and P prices. While bonuses for AA and HE are included it would not allow for the difference as at most these would only add 3-5c/kg to the average. If you drill into the Brandon you will see it was a sudden spike as Brandon followed the national average for the last 8-10 weeks.

IMO the real reason this is an example of the way feedlot cattle are used to control price. Brandon is in dairy country and not a real feedlot area. More than likely the price was skewed as a large amount of feedlot cattle were killed there to control the local prices and to build up numbers locall to control or drop the price
