Shoulder Checks while Moving

I’ve been reading through depths of this forum (e.g. posts from 5-6 years ago) for the past couple of days and a lot of people have mentioned glancing over your right/left shoulder to check your blind spot when changing lanes or turning in the respective direction. My instructor has never mentioned this to me. I also don’t see it being done in any of the Irish driving lesson videos I’ve watched. Obviously I do a full over the shoulder check when pulling off, but I have never done one in motion.

Is this really expected during the test? I have my test on Friday and I don’t want to try and introduce it this late into the game and distract me from everything else I do well if it’s not something that I’ll be marked down on. Thanks.

It all boils down to making effective observations. If you were observing early and often enough a blind spot check MIGHT not be necessary for a lane change. If in doubt, check.
