That's a nice addition to 28e .It's has been on Astra 1 19e for two years now . This might make Sky News go HD .

It might only be temporary. This is the HD Red Button channel (6811) they use each summer for tennis etc.

Sky News looks ridiculous in comparison to pretty much every other news channel. Bloomberg, BBC News, BBC World News (19e), CNN, CNBC, France 24, TRT World, RT, Al Jazeera and Euronews (Hot Bird) all available for free in HD.

The BBC red button is currently carrying BBC news UK. Which channel are you referring to?

That’s BBC News UK, not BBC World News.

Cheers. It was reported as BBC World News on King of Sat. May have changed since it first appeared. Checked it, and it is BBC News UK now.

Can you receive this on a standard satellite aerial?

Can you receive this on a standard satellite aerial?

You require a satellite dish pointing at the 19.2°E position

Thanks. So a standard dish receiving Freesat, etc wouldn't work?

Some dishes can be upgraded with a second LNB mounted beside the main one (side-lobe reception), to receive other satellite positions, and using DiSEqC switching you can seamlessly switch between channels on different satellites with a free-to-air satellite receiver.

They don’t want it available in the UK. It’s available here on Virgin (along with the BBC News Channel) but not Sky for the above reason. Yes, I know, they could do an encrypted version for Ireland only, but they’ll only do that if Sky pay them and Sky don’t want to facilitate a competitor to Sky News if they can help it.

The frequencies that you get on the BBC on satellite are temporary BBC Red Button Feeds for Wimbledon & Glastonbury.

There are 6 RB feeds for these events. So that's 1 HD feed & 5 SD feeds.

The BBC News Channel on SID 6811 is only there as a placeholder until Wimbledon begins later in the summer.
