House Insurance query

Had to get a replacement water tank as the old one was rotten and started to leak. It leaked lnto the ceiling and today a bit of the ceiling fell out.

My dad said to claim on house insurance but would my premiums go up or would they refuse to quote me next year? Any negatives about claiming?

Cost of plumbing 380, cost of plastering... Don't know yet

Most home insurance policies cover a galvanised tank for 10 years from new. They have a limited lifespan and replacing the before the leak is part of the regular maintenance of the property. I doubt that they will pay out anything for the tank. Even if they did cover the tank, your policy will have an excess that you pay. You pay the first X amount of the claim. This can be anything from 100 to 500 euros. You will need to look at your policy to see how much the excess is.
