Anybody had any bets for this at this stage? I have had a few below.

Queen Anne - Barney Roy 10/1 & Le Brivido 12/1

Barney had his form franked at Epsom the other day as he went down a neck to Zakki on Ascot trials day and has shown he still possess the ability after failing at stud.

Le Brivido won the Jersey 2 years ago and has course form, i expected more in the Lockinge but he did drift from around 7/2 when he was declared to 8/1 the off and caught the eye staying on in 5th from a poor early position, hopefully be more sharper for this race.

Kings Stand - Sergei Prokovfiev 14/1

Backed this before his last run when he failed to hit his top form at Newmarket, always forgive a bad run and being a son of scat daddy i would expect a better showing in a few weeks time.

Prince of Wales - Waldgeist 8/1

With Enable out i think this horse is the value even still at around 7/1 and was impressed with his Ganay win thrashing Study of Man and the fancied Godolphin horse, the trainer has got him back to his 3 yr old form he claims and the horse at 5 might show his best form this season. Sea of Class is brilliant but i will always take it on first run of the season in a Group 1, Masar also having his first run since his derby win i will take on. Magical is the one for AOB that is fancied to go well but it’s not faced an awful lot bar stayers so far this season and this will be a different level of calibre at Ascot, at 3/1 i will skip.

    Albany Stakes - Nayibeth 8/1

See Wes Wards comments on this and watch it’s video, could be a great price come the day if not been cut with todays articles.

    Commonwealth Cup - Calyx 12/1

Beaten at Haydock lto at very short odds and before this I was licking my lips thinking at 6/4 for this race i had it in the bag, he is now around 9/2 and i can see him being backed closer to the time with his record at the track.

    Coronation Stakes - Maqsad 16/1

Backed it after it caught the eye in the Oaks before not staying, trainer mentioned this as the possible race next so i backed it seeing the drop back in trip will suit.

Diamond Jubilee - City Light 12/1, Bound for Nowhere 16/1

It's hard to back/lay.. something ante-post unless you "know what you know," or, confidant in your thinking, and that's rare in the early stages. I said it before and I'll say it again. I don't rely on statistics on daily/weekend races, but on the biggies you have to go by stats, but not limited too.

    <mod edit: snip>

In contrast to my good win on Saturday, I had my arse kicked a few years ago. I backed altior at 2/5 at Aintree I think it was. It was pulled out a couple days before and I lost my money. Racing is a hard game

An odds-on loser is granted but a stand out winner identified as ploy of the year is claimed. I suppose Seamie riding the certainty over the trainer's son also has a reasonable explanation?

Racing is surely a hard game but boasts are best left to impressing the girlfriend.

"Sir Dragonet was never intended to win the derby by ballydoyle, they used it to hold up the price on the winner."

That is an absolute humdinger. The lads pulling strokes in the biggest 3yo race of the year. There does be some conspiracy theories around here at times but this is genius stuff.

Read the charter, Aftertiming is not appreciated. This game is hard enough without such waffle.

The 'moron' in your name really suits you. If you read my post properly it say's explained in the derby thread. No after-timing from me Mr Moron. Now go back and talk your usual nonsense. You really are a moron, you picked your username well :pac:

You never forget to sign out of you other alias accounts. Mostly Harmless aka Kiers47, aka Irish_major, aka Kauto, aka bullwall.

You have many accounts and you talk to yourself a lot on here. The iammoron guys likes watching that tripe love island, ever consider watching that instead of gambling?

Seriously, please stop this cr*p. Re-read the forum charter and post in a better manner. Final warning. Infractions and bans will ensue.

A horse I've been backing during ante post is Battaash in the Kings Stand. Bits of 9/4 left or generally 2/1. I feel it will start a lot shorter on the day. Not liking blue point at all, and struggling to find anything else that can beat Battaash. The only horse I've backed ante post for Ascot.

How important is trainer form here?

Stoute has been on fire with a 28% strike rate this year. Any other trainer in a similar vein of form?

Skybet gone NRNB the Group 1s but the prices been slashed as expected.

Rotal Ascot is my favorite betting week of the year. Absolutely love the handicaps there.
Find the 2yo races impossible to punt on so usually stay away from them and if i do have a bet on them it is usually something at a price.
3yo+ Group 1s are usually a bit easier but i mostly end up just watching most of those.

I probably have more bets this week than a usual 2 month period. Which can lead to varying degrees of swings.

I've just got out of the hospital, highlight being 80 hours of diarrhoea (a bit like my forum posting :o )

My early fancies are Magician and Waldgeist, both in the Prince Of Wales, but will wait for declarations and nice prices.
The Queen Anne is a strange field, plenty of doubts about the principals.
The St James Palace is often goes to a Guineas placed horse, not a winner.

The ground at Ascot is a bit soft, unlike the fast at Epsom.

Aidan O'Brien has confirmed to @kevinblake2011 & @AtTheRaces that Etoile, Monarch Of Egypt, Pistoletto and Pink Dogwood WILL NOT be running at Royal Ascot.

I really like king's field in the royal hunt cup at 25s

Another day another big name pulled out. Chasing Dreams will not run in the Queen Mary after she was found to be lame this morning.

At this stage Kew Gardens is the standout bet for me in the Ascot Gold Cup. Stradivarius and Dee Ex Bee will ensure that Kew Gardens is a decent price. Wouldn't be getting on him too early just in case Aidan changes plans.

Would an Irish Guineas 2nd do? John Gosden is all delighted with how well he has Too Darn Hot, says that he trained him awfully so far this year with a claim now that he was 80% fit for the Dante ( he said 85% fit at the time so the TDH hyperbole is in overdrive now ) and that he'd had a flue shot a week before the Irish Guineas.

It should add spice to the SJP and he'll ensure a good price for Phoenix Of Spain. AFAIC TDH ain't champion miler material, the others should be catching up to this precocious 2yo who will surely need further to show his best. Gosden work's "miracles" but if he turns that lad into a champion miler he really is a miracle worker.

If Too Darn Hot is 4/1+ I will be interested, but he looks too short.
Fox Champion, German 2000 Guineas winner, might interest me at a price.
In this race you can get joint favourites watching each other and ignoring good horses.

The main reason for the difference in Guineas form and the St James Palace Stakes, apart from the obvious improving form of a horse, is the different style of the race. Both Guineas are run on straight miles, I appreciate the Curragh elbow, but it is basically a straight mile. However Ascot is 5 furlongs to a sharp right hander and then a 3 furlong sprint home, this differs of course to the Coronation stakes which is run on the straight mile.

My point is that the winner needs to be comfortable with the sharp right hand bend. Not all horses will be. Also if you have a slow start it can develop into a sprint and if your caught for toe in a bad posy you might not get home in time.

I think this will play into Too Darn Hot's hands, although I do think Phoenix of Spain is decent.

Too Darn Hot will reverse the Irish 2000G form with the winner. Of that there is very little doubt. I was a layer of him last time but would be all over him this time.

It was a crazy decision to run in the 2000G, only a week or so after his seasonal debut but it was done with the intention of having him peak for Ascot. A max bet.

Queen Anne is run on the straight mile alright.

Really fancy that Constantinople of Aidans in the King George V Stakes on Thursday.

6/1 I think he's an e/w cert. 1m2f and right gallop up front will suit him to a tee. They think this could be one of their main Leger contenders too

Masar is running in the Hardwicke, declared this morning.

I see Entitle looks to be skipping the Ribblesdale for the Prix Diane today at Chantilly. I quite fancied her for Ascot, as they said that was the plan straight after the Musidora. Frankie takes the ride again.

She is available today at a wopping 16/1 with Paddy Power, paying 4 places. I respect that the favourite is a lovely filly but it is telling that connections have elected to go here as opposed to Ascot, assuming she won't go twice this week that is. The Racing post are saying that the favourite could be the next Zarkava but has an unfavourable draw. I love negatives when opposing 3 year old favourites, it's like a head start.

    Chantilly 3.05 - Entitle 16 /1 4 places.
