    Hi

I need to replace a gutter union/junction piece (the rubber seals have rotted and its leaking i tried using solvent to seal it but its too far gone. .

    It's a square type gutter.
I have never worked on a gutter before.
How do I know if the parts in woodies or B&Q will fit it.

Its been up there decades, I have no brand name or size
I want to avoid taking it off until I have a replacement part.

Are they all standard? is square gutter a square gutter?

    B&Q part 114mm square.

If the plastic gutter is still sound just replace the rubber seals.
The non porous rubber draught excluder strips for windows or doors.

Or if you go the tech7 or silicone route, take the joint apart and run a bead similar in thickness to the old rubber seal round the fitting. Once it has cured clip the joint back together

Plan B - take end cap off and take it along to the nearest specialist that does guttering, most towns have them and while they often only stock a couple of preferred brands they can often order any that are still available. The end cap will let them know what type you have. The local guttering firm (often the same guys that do all the plastics for fascia boards etc) might have been the source of your gutter in the first place.
