    1. Can you remove the yellow plastic barriers you left in my area?

    Would you mind sending a PM with the following and we will follow up with our crews in the area?

    - Your full name;
    - Contact number; and
    - The exact location of these barriers and when they were first in place.

    2. There’s no water at my property, can you help?

    If your cold, kitchen tap is affected by this, please send a PM with your name, address and contact number and we can follow up.

    3. I received an Irish Water bill at my home. What do I do?

    Bills are suspended for domestic properties, only non-domestic/commercial properties currently have water charges. If you are receiving Commercial Water bills and have a domestic property, we recommend that you call us on 1850 778 778 between 9am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday and a member of our team can assist you further.

    4. I have hard water, can you rectify this?

    We are responsible for the quality of the water that you receive, however, in regards to hard water we don't treat it because:

    - There are no health risks involved in drinking and using hard water;

    - Softening water removes beneficial minerals from hard water;

    - There is no legislative requirement to remove hardness from drinking water

    Depending on the technology used, artificially softened water may not be suitable for everyone to drink, e.g. increased Sodium levels caused by salt softening may not be suitable for infants or at-risk groups.

    Hard water can create an internal protective film on lead pipes or fittings. This can prevent metals such as lead leaching into your drinking water supply. To find out more about the dangers of lead in drinking water visit our dedicated information section.

    If you are looking for further information on hard water, please see www.water.ie/water-supply/water-quality/water-hardness/.

    5. How do I turn off my outside stop valve at the mains?

    In order to turn off your supply from the public mains to your property, you can switch your supply off using the outside stop valve located in your meter box.

    Once the works are complete you can turn back on your supply, as the outside stop valve is on publicly accessible land.
