How far is your commute and what roads do you drive on? Will you have access to home / work charging?

Nissan Leaf 24kWh from around 2014 although your budget is pushing it a bit as these cars are currently going up in value.

Need info. Your charge point will be your house.

Half an hour at 120mph or half an hour at 30mph.
What’s the distances. Types of roads.

Budget would say a Leaf. Maybe 141 or 132 with the newer battery. 24kwh of course.

Think of it this way. You're contemplating buying a petrol car with an 8 litre petrol tank. And the only petrol pump is in your front garden.

For anyone to advise you we need to know exactly what you're going to try to do with it.

Thanks for the input so far, really appreciate it. To add a bit more context, the drive to and from work is mostly 100kph (62mph), but unlikely to travel at that speed most of the way due to slow moving traffic. Average speed would probably be between 60 and 80kph.
The probability is that I will need the range to do me for 2 x 30km trips, at the times I would need to do these trips traffic should be lower.
There are very limited charge points in the city I would be going to.

Will you be able to install a home charger?

    So 60km max trip.
Leaf, even an early Leaf will be your cheapest entry in an EV.

If you install a home charger (you get a €600 subsidy for it which covers all or most of the install costs) then you will be fine with the Leaf 24kWh. Do you have a driveway?
