Ball joint or wishbone?

Was driving back from doing a weekly shop on Saturday evening when I clipped the corner of a kerb, straight up and over it in less than a second.

A couple of seconds later I felt a strange sensation from underneath the car, it was if I was after driving over something, or something fell from the undercarriage.

I pulled over, nothing appears damaged, no dents/scuff on the passenger side wheel, so continued on home (I would have been half a mile away from home at this stage)

When parking the motor I felt a strange sensation from the front wheel, couldn't determine if it was passenger or driver side initially, but it felt like I might have had a puncture, so got out and all wheels were fine.

Unhappy, I drove the car around the house applying the brakes intermittently, and soon determined that the problem seemed to be coming from the drivers side, especially when braking.

Got the wife to drive while I inspected the wheels from the outside, and the driver wheel in particular seems to be moving when brakes are applied, I'd say there's 5 - 10mm of movement.

I'm thinking wishbone or track rod?

Hoping to get a mechanic to call to the house and have a look later as I don't think it should be driven.

    Any one any ideas?

    Thanks

Thanks for that meaningful and well thought out response.

I was certain this was the motors forum where people posted mechanical problems they may be having in the hope someone more knowledgeable on such matters might share some wisdom. :D

    Not if you have "sensations".
