What are the chances of getting caught by customs if I ship a phone from AliExpress with DHL ?

    Thanks.

Almost certainly, the sellers usually state they are not responsible for unexpected customs costs. What phone is it you are after, maybe we can find an EU seller?

I've bought a few phones from AliExpress that were shipped through DHL and duty was covered in the shipping price. So it depends on the seller. Post up a link to the phone so we can have a look.

Depends, I've had DHL deliveries from European warehouses from Ali orders that look to have originated outside eu into a hub inside eu before getting to me. And also had DHL shipping direct from china/Singapore/HK that have let you prepay customs due like €25 extra and those haven't been stopped.

100% certain. Plus you’ll have to pay their €25 admin fee as well for the pleasure.

If you can use a postal service do that.

Bit slower but much lower chance of customs.

First timer here to use aliexpress

Bought a part for the heating system for €60... Paid extra for DHL

Just wondering should I be expecting any extra fees and how much.

Try eglobalcentral or e-finity if buying from Asia as taxes are included.

Estimate a 10 euro handling charge and then VAT at 23%, so around 20 quid. Hopefully it gets through without any charges though..

I've got a few from goldway on AliExpress, never charged for customs as the phones are shipped to the UK first and then to Ireland from there ( you get 2 tracking numbers), nice choice of global Xiaomi phones there too...
