Imprint concrete over asphalt driveway

    Hi all,

I’m looking at getting a new driveway.

Had a guy out last week, was pushing for the asphalt driveway but I have concerns about getting that.

A friend of mine recommended getting imprint concrete as it’s cheaper and better wearing long term?

I asked the driveway guy about it and he said it’s more expensive and needs polishing every year. Not able to use salt to remove ice and snow on it.

Anyone have any experience of this or would chose one over the other etc?

    Thanks in advance

Whatever you get will be down for a long time so don't pushed or bullied into getting something your're unsure about.

You need to get more quotes and talk to them about the issues you've been told already. Even as to see other jobs that they've done, This way you get to see the quality of work and also if you would like it in your driveway or not.

Personally, I'd say your driveway guy is just trying to talk you out of the the Concrete option. As I don't see salt having any adverse effect on concrete.

Not sure about the price difference, but your driveway guy is right about it needing resealed every year or two to keep the concrete clean looking.
He's also correct about the salt. It'll take the top 5mm off the concrete.
    Hope this helps
