Google searching for wife of male celebs

I noticed that if you type the name of a famous man into Google, the search suggestions often suggest you add “wife” to your search.

It’s never occurred to me to check who a famous guys wife is, I’m female though - is this a man thing?

If you do this, why do you do it?

Ha I don’t have a husband I just noticed it myself.

I tried a few females there, Sandra Bullock, Kirsten Dunst and a couple more - no “husband”.

Maybe men fancy other men's wives.

I've gotten the husband thing when I've searched for some female celebrities. Also the word wedding coming up after the female's name, which is similar.

I always assumed it was women doing these searches. It has never occurred to me to Google the wife of a famous male celebrity. If I would Google something like that I'd Google the husband of a female celeb to see the type of guy she'd go for.

For some of these - JHR, Morgan - its probably people wondering who on earth would willingly legally tie themselves to them.

    Crickey, the OP is right.

Type 'Pat' into Google and seven of the ten autocompletes are results with 'wife'.

    Who's responsible for this madness!

    Me :(

I have sometimes googled someone's wife or husband. Nosiness. Curiosity.

Sorry for messing up the algorithms :(:(

I remember seeing some FB page, I think, called “Footballers who could do better” or something like that. Presumably because they were rich and successful you’d think they’d have a better looking partner than they did. With photos of said munters too. I think Ashley Young & Robin Van Persie featured.

The wife was watching some celeb thing during the week and it mentioned some celeb's wife, but didn't show her or give her name. That's the kind of thing they would get people googling.

I'm guessing people who have attractive spouses, or who's spouse gets mentioned in "celeb news" would be searched for and then appear in search suggestions.

people like looking at attractive women

I noticed it alright. I'd usually Google the name of an MMA fighter or boxer I've never heard of, followed by 'wiki' to check their fight record and wife is always the first suggestion after typing 'w'

For want of a better method of selecting which females to google, I googled "top actresses", and every lady aside from Angelina Jolie https://etcanada.com/photos/357946/the-10-highest-paid-actresses-of-2018/#image-357955, googling every single one of them gives "husband" or "boyfriend" as an autocomplete.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

All the fuss in the US about the First Lady or endless articles about the wives of famous men. Very little about the husbands of famous women who are largely anonymous.

Because nobody wants to know what Oprah's husband is wearing. It's mostly women searching celeb partners to give them the' ol once over.
