Have an issue with the grout. Looks like it's no drying properly. It's Evo-stik Silver grey. Was grouted a week ago and if get a blade to it, it's not hard like cement. It comes out like sand. It's hard enough if I put my nail to grout it doesn't come out or scrape of like sand so it's hard enough, it's only if I put a blade to it.
    Any ideas???

The reason you can rake it out with a blade
Is because you can change the colour of it if you get tired or stressed with the silver grey there's a nice antique metal grey available lovely colour very soothing

What does it taste like, the grout, not the blade.

If it wasn't ready mixed, then I'd say you didn't mix it with the correct proportion of water.
Or if it wasn't a new bag, something you had in the shed, it may have been exposed to water in the air and weakened over time.

    Any ideas???

Don't go near any power tools.... in general.

You posted in the wrong forum.

This is After Hours, a forum talking about the best burgers in Dublin and how to make Pizza dips.

Got a good tiler, in the trade 25yrs. He mixed it 3 to 1 as on packet, then tried 3 different ways, all have the same effect. Got a different tiler to get opinion and they both say it's the grout.

He didn't use pizza dip instead of grout by any chance?

Could be a bad batch then.
Usually the tiler picks the grout not the home owner.
Did they pick the brand ?

Or did you go into the likes of "Right Price Tiles" and let them decide ?
They used to have a policy of not allowing returns on unused/unopened grout.
    Not very consumer friendly.

Got of right price tiles alri, the reason I got it is because the tiler said that his supplier doesn't do silver grey.

OP, was it the evostik grout that comes in the in the tube?
That stuff is known to not set right.

Also, grout can be scraped out.
Taking a blade to it is a bit harsh.

In fairness, it's Giling Trout. And you should never remove a trouts gills. They find it very hard to breath.

No it was the 5kg bags, powder that was mixed 3to1 as per bag instructions

Is there a manufacturing date or best before date on the bag ?
This quick search says that powdered grout "goes bad" after a year.

Or maybe there was a rip in the bag, enough to expose it to air/moisture.

Didn't see any rips and it has a manufacturing date which was 4 months ago
