Advice on to sell and upgrade or stick for another year

Any advice at all on this would be greatly appreciated.

Essentially I'm currently driving an 04 Golf with just shy of 110k miles on the clock. As there's a bit of damage on the driver side door (dude ran into me on a roundabout and was apparently my fault despite RSA details on it), enough to notice but not enough to bother fix I'm currently being offered between 4/500e on a trade in.

To pass the NCT I'll need to put in about 150 to 200e into the car, and could really do with 4 new tyres (even second hand ones), so all in all easily looking at 400e. Considering the current value of the car, not too sure if it's worth the bother.

So logic would be to trade in and buy one of two 2012 i30s below.

1: http://www.klmotors.ie/usedcars/ (annoying site, can't link the car directly sorry).

So 8k for the car, minus 450e argument sake as a trade in, 3 month warranty and it's local.

    2: https://www.desmondmotors.co.uk/used-cars/9589187-hyundai-i30-active-blue-drive-crd-cruise-control-bluetooth-rear-park-sensors/

Through a bit of negotiating, with current exchange rates it'd be 7k including the trade in here, but VRT working out at about 983e so 8k including delivery. Bonus of this it seems to be a higher spec, less millage and I do have somewhat of a family connection with the dealership and can be trusted.

Honestly don't know if just NCT'ing the golf, running it for one more year and hoping nothing else goes wrong with it and waiting to upgrade is the better option or investing in either i30. I'd be taking out a loan if I purchase either.

Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated, or if anyone has had any similar experiences (even with i30s, positive or negative) I'd be all ears and thanks in advance.

I wouldn't even bother trying to use the Golf as a trade-in. In reality it is worth next to nothing to them and even if the dealer gave you €500 for it I'd expect to get the same off the asking price of the i30 if you were not trading it in. Stick the Golf through the NCT and see how it fairs. If it passes without needing too much spent on it then either keep it going or stick it up on donedeal for 1k and see how you fair.

Cheers for the advice mate, very much appreciate it. Shall stick it through the NCT and see how it goes.
