Birds not eating wild peanuts

I have one of those bird feed mesh hangers in the garden and I got a huge tub of wild bird peanuts and filled it up. I hung it on the hedge. I haven't noticed any birds eating from it. What am I doing wrong. Do birds not eat peanuts?

Not sure what wild peanuts are but birds do eat peanuts. It can take them a while to use new feeders and there is a lot of other foods available for them at the moment.
