    Hi All,

I've just been talked into repainting a Kitchen, not keen on doing it.
The walls seem a bit greasy, My Wife volunteered my services.

Whats the best way to clean the walls and make them ready for Painting?

    Thanks In Advance
    Andy.

Never used it but many swear by sugar soap - I just use warm water and a generic degreaser - the sort of thing you'll buy in lidl for 2/3 euro. Spray on degreaser and wipe down with warm damp cloth.

Sugar soap is the job. I've used it myself on a number of occasions.

For extra bite, add 20% white vinegar to the sugar soap.

I did a kitchen in a rented property that was awful and used Kitchen cleaner from Astonish, get it in Mr Price and it is great stuff.

Get your wife to do the prep work Andy. Fair is fair.

Whatever you use wash, or at the very least wet the walls from the bottom up. Sounds daft but it avoids a colour difference, which is difficult to remove, when water drips down the wall. Sugar soap is good as is washing soda.
