Is there any circumstances where an applicant can apply for Irish citizen before their residency entitlement? For example, my husband has 3 years residency here but needs 5 years on the residency calculator to apply. However he needs an EU passport for his job. I read that the minister can waive some requirements... any…

Is there any circumstances where an applicant can apply for Irish citizen before their residency entitlement? For example, my husband has 3 years residency here but needs 5 years on the residency calculator to apply. However he needs an EU passport for his job. I read that the minister can waive some requirements... any chance he could be granted citizenship or wasting our time applying early?

How long have you been married? He may be able to apply after 3 years residency:
