    I have a 5 year old laptop with Windows10.

Lately have connected it via a HDMI cable to a large tv to watch Netflix.

2 day ago was watching Netflix - all good. Left to do some odd jobs and when I returned no audio. Strange!

Checked all connections restarted laptop then no video or audio.

Checked cable and socket on tv using a DVD player - all good.

Deffo seems to be either laptop or laptop socket. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Update
I was advised to check all the drivers which I did.
According to laptop most suitable driver is loaded and working perfectly.

Looks like it might be a physical problem with the socket itself.

Any recommendations for a Dublin City centre repair shop?

You have cycled through the output option on the laptop to make sure it's it not defaulting to the laptop rather than duplicating the visual.

Windows update pushed a bad patch from Intel recently that caused just this.

    1.
Audio not working with Dolby Atmos headphones and home theater in May 2019 Update
A Windows 10 May 2019 Update that some people were experience meant that some Dolby Atmos sound systems did not work properly.

This has been fixed with the KB4505057 patch, which will be installed automatically.

    2.
"Microsoft has identified issues with certain, new Intel display drivers. Intel inadvertently released versions of its display driver (versions 24.20.100.6344, 24.20.100.6345) to OEMs that accidentally turned on unsupported features in Windows. After updating to Windows 10, version 1809, audio playback from a monitor or television connected to a PC via HDMI, USB-C, or a DisplayPort may not function correctly on devices with these drivers.

    Yes
I used the Window button + P and then selected 2nd screen only.

    This sounds good ED.
When should the new update be loaded or can I download manually without waiting.

    Update

According to laptop all drivers working correctly.

Took a chance and deleted monitor driver and re-downloaded it.

Seemed to sort the problem for a day - now same problem.

Started off with no audio on tv, now no audio or video on tv.

    Any ideas?

    Could you try Win+Ctrl+Shift+B

This key sequence restarts/resets you graphics driver. You will/might need to set Win+P after that.

    See if it makes difference.
