Aspiring author looking to go abroad without working a full time job

I'm looking to go abroad but don't want to work full time to I can spend more time working on the story I hope to publish one day. Ideally I'd prefer not to work at all, but I don't know how that would be possible, so I'd be up for part-time, but even with that it would still be financially strenuous. Anybody have any ideas how I could do what I want to do?

It depends on your savings really. You could live in Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam for half nothing.

Get a job. Save money. Take time off and do what you want.

Stop spending time writing crap threads on boards and write a decent story that will sell.

i think theres a company that allows people to stay free in house,s ,apartments for very low rent as a form of security.

    https://ie.cameloteurope.com/rooms-guardians

people use sites like patreon or go fund me to help pay expense
while they make art, music, podcasts etc
look for a low rent small property .
See most writers would submit art to fanzines or websites like medium.com to get started .
Most writers started off working in shops ,
basic jobs that are not very tiring or physical to pay the rent.
gaming writers send in work or work for free and then get a job
    based on the published work.
    Make a blog on https://wordpress.com/

if you want to get public support you need to write online.
IF You in rural area,s the rent is very cheap.
The ideal job is working in a bookshop or a record store
but theres not many of them left .
i think italy is cheap to live in but it might be hard to live or work there if you don,t speak italian.
there were lots of artists in new york in the 80s,
because rent was cheap ,thats no longer true .
i read about ed sheeran today on dailymail.uk , when he started off singing ,he used to sleep
on a friends sofa or else sleep on the london subway train.
being a poor artist is tough.

Many actors worked as waiters or in retail before they got success,
theres not much support out there for would be writers .
In america its called the side hustle ,
a temporary job or work people do, while they try to pursue a
career in the arts , ie a job just to pay the rent and bills ,
while they try to become a writer,.actor etc

Can You not stay here, or are you looking to travel to find material to write about .
https://www.reddit.com/r/writing/ look for advice on reddit.

Writing a book should only take a few weeks. Hardly worth travelling abroad for.

Re-writing is inevitable, ten times minimum.
Getting a script published first time is not happening.

Find a cheap place to live would be the first step as the resources you need are pretty minimal and it doesn't really matter where you are (unless it's essential for your book).

Why do you not want to stay where you are to do it?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Not being sarcastic but a house in rural Mayo, Roscommon or Donegal would be cheap. Once you stay outside Cork, Dublin, Galway or Limerick there would be cheap alternatives.

This. Say you're deaf and mute, and write down that you are from Chechnya or Dagestan. That will prevent the curiosity over your Irishy pale skin. The Swedish will let literally anybody into their country at this stage.

Tell them that you are LBGTQXYX

You won't get any more writing done by going abroad. Trust me.

The only way to write that story is sit your arse in the chair and hammer away at it. Most writers simply find time to do that outside of work or you could just do it on the dole if you can manage.

But thinking a trip abroad is necessary is something that only an amateur would think, not having a go at you because I thought that way too but basically if you are just starting out you're going to most likely write stuff that will just embarass you later so if you want to travel, travel, if you want to write, write. But going abroad won't help your writing unless you plan on making another Eat Pray Love. which I hope is not the case!

You could probably do 4 or 5 months for about €1000 a month living frugally over the winter somewhere in Southern/Eastern Europe where it will be out of season. Maybe a holiday home somewhere like Montenegro...

There is a book store in paris. Right across from notre dame. Oldest shop of english speaking books and the lady who founded it published Ulysses for joyce. Hemingway and the lads used to hang out there. They still have a couple of bed/cots on the top floor of the shop to let artists and writers crash for free. Give it a google...might be worth an email or phone call.

Go to Belarus. Very cheap living standards and relatively safe.

Teach english. Do a tefl course. I did one but i never used it. Not sure if you could make enough to live on part time.

I think you need a degree though.

TBH for a lot of places you don't even need a tefl cert you just need to be a native English speaker and pass a background check.

My aunt (not my real aunt) teaches in monte carlo but lives in france she can make more money and live cheaply. Its a hell of a commute though she only does it three days a week. Then she takes private business clients for lessons.Their company usually pays.

Get a few corporate clients or private lessons. You will prob have to go do private lessons though. Most places don't want part time teachers.
