    Hi all,

    I'm about to start renting my apartment for the summer on Airbnb.

    Do you have any advice on how to do the wifi? Are there some restrictions I should use? (i.e. I don't want a guest looking up something that's illegal that can in turn have repercussions for me as the bill-payer of the wifi).

    Many thanks,
    David

    AFAIK anything dodgy someone looked up would be traced to the their device's IP and not the source of the connection so I don't think it would be an issue for you.

    If the device is on his wifi it will be his IP that shows up as the device will be accessing the internet through his IP address.

    Get a good router with built in functions for limiting sites accessed.
    Set it up to be family friendly which should eliminate most bad content.

    Set the DNS to openDNS and use their filtering also, just in case anything gets past the router.

    Finally put the router in an inaccessible place and ensure there is a very secure password on it for access.
    Lock it down as much as possible.

    @mordeith
    Internet doesn't see LAN IP address, it's behind NAT and you know it.
    WAN IP is interface exposed to internet, some services might be denied, but usually only if criminal/malicious activity from it is detected.

    Some ISP's have certain filters applied
    Some consumer grade routers have Web filtering feature, some support "wildcard" (*porn*, *drugs*, *facebook*), but even that is weak as you can't predict all sites and there would be limit on entries.
    You could introduce designated firewall device, but that is expencive.

    Do you expect perverts or cybercriminals visiting you?:D
    I think your concern is bit overkill
