Am wondering if anyone could tell me if there is an ETCI regulation in relation to mounting AP's or smoke heads etc onto suspended ceiling tiles, or would it fall under building regs?

    Thanks

One thing thy springs to mind is the requirement to install smoke detectors above the false ceiling in many cases so that a fire within the void is detected. This requirement will depend on the volume and shape of this void.

Thanks 2011, am wondering in terms of mounting anything onto a suspended ceiling tile is there a reg that must be followed eg AP or light or Pir etc. Is there any Reg that states what you must use to support the device in the tile or how is it regulated?

I think the only regulations (in ET101) that apply are the "fundamental principles", nothing specific that I am aware of.

I'm not aware of a regulation on this.

It is not regulated to the best of my knowledge, detectors are light in weight and are generally not a risk item, the cabling connection alone would hold them if the fixings failed, light fittings falling is a risk
In commercial buildings main contractors fit wooden board above the tile for light fittings.

Not so much for fire alarms, you can get clips that grip the suspended bars, or something above the detector, but it wouldn't necessarily be 600*600 to fit the grid.
