Both need to be connected to the same WiFi connection for a start.

    Done that.

Had a old HTC m9 and it was just a three finger swipe

The P20 is made by Huawei which is banned in Hawaii since yesterday by the Executive Order of the President so that's probably why it doesn't work.

Why is Michael D banning phones from being used in Hawaii?

You should be able to go into YouTube for example and the cast icon should be at the top of the screen when the video is loaded.

Yeah, which is odd. It dies that no hassle. It's more videos on my phone I'm looking at

Maybe try screen mirroring. Go into settings on the phone, device connection then mirror share. Sometimes you have to do something to your TV so that it can receive the screen mirror usually just the click of a button.

The Huawei video app doesn't cast I'd say
You might need a 3rd party app

I use Bubble uPnP (Pro version) with a Huawei P9. Find it brilliant.

Best used with MX Player I find...

Don't think LG have Chromecast support as it's not Android. Not 100% sure though. Try opening YouTube app on TV and link your account in the settings, should work then for good once you do it once.

Edit: just noticed it's not for youtube. Try the vlc app instead.

Can't help you with Hawaii P20 but I'm great with the Hawaii Five-0.

    Download an app called Xcast
Make sure your TV and phone are on same WiFi network.
Once that's done, you will see the TV via the app and you can pair it.
You can then view videos within your files on your phone and cast it to the Tv
