Rio 180 lights

Is there a place in Dublin that can repair my lights for Juwel Rio 180 aquarium ? Suspect ballast dead.

Dont think so. Its all LED nowadays. The old T5s have been phased out.

You can get the bulbs tested by someone else with the same setup or some shops have the facility. At least then you can eliminate them

Check the switch first, switch went on mine, I bypassed it and it's been fine since.
Rio 240 is what I have but I assume the princible is the same

once open any competent diy person can renew the ballast.
Take pictures of the wiring connections before removing ballast.

A little more detail;
As the lights died I got the sweet smell of burning plastic. As you can see one of the tube connectors has burn marks and I don't know what other internal damage has been sustained.

Now I'v got 9 years of constant use from the unit (replacing tubes when off spectrum).
So considering replacing it with:

I have 895 mm/45 Watt tubes now but I'm unsure which of the listed LED tubes is right for my RIO 180 planted tank (see attch)
advice appreciated.



So looks like the plants will suffer as the fish adjust to their new ambient light for the time being.

Done! I dose daily with Profito & liquid Easy Carbo. I'l trim back my light starved plants when the LED is installed. Is there an initial change to look out for, eg spike in Algae ?

I wouldn't keep putting in ferts if you've no lights. Plants need to photosynthy thingy to uptake the ferts. Algae is more efficient as far as light is concerned and will live off the ferts and go wild. You're bound to get algae when you switch back on the lights anyway. Any change will result in algae in my experience so maybe its just a wait it out situation.
