    What's your thoughts on this?

Commercial flights have been flying near Iran for decades, the next thing the big bully saunters into someone's back yard and suggests that flights could be in danger and the possibility of navigation systems failing or getting jammed.

Ive a feeling it won't be the Persians who'll be jamming signals, it'll be someone else at it.
Then when something happens, see we told you so.

    Let's invade Persia...

Yet Iran has the bully in its own back yard sabre rattling as usual.

Iran have their own domestic problems, but they're no threat to the great Satan..

Iran apparently jammed the signal controlling a military drone to bring it down and also decrypted its data.

No they have not done anything like that to civilian aircraft. Yes they might be capable of doing so.

Trump came into this Presidency determined to fight Iran, and he's going to pursue that theme until it gets him re-elected, even if it eventually means war with Iran.

    It will, of course.

    Iran 1979 - 2019
40 years of religious rule by old goats.

    .

I'll take the US, for all it's faults, over Iran any day of the week.

If you think for one second the Iranian regime / Hezbollah etc. hold a what they think of as a decadent wealthy white trash infidel westerner like you in any regard . . you're in for a shock.

I just don't want to see another senseless war in the middle East.

I don't think it'll bring about peace if the mullahs are gone, a lot of people will harbour resentment and distrust for the west.

    There's no winner

Simplistic guff, given the nature of the regime the ayatollahs replaced.

Why can both not exist? I've been to Iran, and it doesn't strike me as a discontented place. Certainly, people are quite healthy and happy looking. And women play an active role in the economic life of the country; there are women police, doctors, business-owners, teachers, and so on.

And although Iranians are living under a tyranny, so are lots of societies. Including the USA.

Personally I don't have anything against either nation.

The Iranians call America the Great satan.

But if America attacks Iran it'll be catastrophic, our fuel prices will be sky high and our tourism industry fecked

But you do know that anyone complaining about the US while singing the praises of the Iran is the very definition of blinkered.

I don't think anybody here is singing the praises of Iran; I've never met anyone (except Iranians) who has done so. What are you referring to?

Hardly "singing the praises ", Have aso visited Iran and its a beautiful country and the people very friendly.

Honest question, if/when war kicks off do you think it has anything to do with the regime or is it more Donald ensuring he gets a 2nd term?

He once tweeted about how Bush would start a war to ensure he got re-elected, He seems to want to follow down the same path.

Wouldn't blame them, don't think any country particularly likes spy drones farting around their airspace.

Hmm, the US has the capability of bringing down civilian aircraft, and they did just that at one time.
Wouldn't trust the US, masters at staging makey uppey wars. Another middle eastern sand pit adventure is hardly going to end well, for anyone.

What’s with this Persian crap? Persia hasn’t been a country since the 800s.
You sound like an ignorant yank

Not a fan of the Iranian government in any sense, but this looks like yet another US invasion of yet another Middle Eastern territory on some new lie.

Heh, it's almost as if there's an election coming up.

Trump is going to get re elected regardless of what the US does in the middle east.

There isn't going to be any US war with Iran, that's more snowflake scaremongering.

Do you think Putin / Iran / Hezbollah are not interested in the middle east ?

It's not going to happen before 2020, that's almost certain.

But it is going to happen. Surely you don't doubt that? Trump is destabilising Iranian-American relations and sabre-rattling, threatening war, which is enough to get him re-elected.

But US-Iran relations are only going one way, and whether it happens next year or in five years, there's a war coming.

The only way that it could conceivably be avoided is if some hippie (or, at least, Elizabeth Warren) replaces Trump as President. But that's highly unlikely.

The gall of those sneaky Iranians, taking down a US spy drone in Iranian airspace.

What next? They might take down an airliner like Iran Air Flight 655 that was shot down by the US navy killing 290 innocent people including 65 children.

    The cheek of them.

I've never been to iran so can't comment on the country. What annoys me is when people criticise a country, without ever visiting it, and base their opinion on what they hear in the news. I've visited america and it's a beautiful country and friendly people but the media over there has brainwashed people without fully understanding what life is really like outside of the US

Blame John Bolton (warmonger-in-chief), a very dangerous individual but currently National Security Adviser to Trump. He's been itching to start another war for years to show the world the might of the US military. Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, it doesn't matter really.

Hopefully he does something stupid which might cause a 4:00 AM 'You're fired!' tweet from POTUS.

I would say it is mainly political posturing, a dangerous game but inevitably harmless. By making it an issue he warms himself to the Jewish vote in the states. Israel is terrified of Iran's backing of Palestine.

I have noticed it an awful lot in the American Media the last few weeks. IMO they are astutely laying out election agenda in the media to make it an issue to get votes. There is no way Putin or even Turkey would sit back and watch the US have their way in Iran.

Finally on the whole subject of Iran, I feel it is a bit rich for armchair warriors like ourselves to cast too many aspersions ( no pun intended ) on the people of Iran or their country. It is very easy to poke holes in foreign cultures. I massively disagree with some parts of their culture, however I am not fit to judge an entire race of people and their way of life. It looks like a beautiful place and I would love to visit there one day.

Trump has said he is not happy that some in his administration seem to be getting ready for a war with Iran. He has said he would prefer to talk with the Iranians and make deal with them and I think if the Iranians want to avoid a war and sell oil again then that would be there best bet for now at least until Trump is gone and America gets a sane president again. I am not trying to defend Trump as I do not like him or his administration but I agree with what a poster above said that its Bolten that wants a war but Pompeo is also part of it.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

your country can't be much good if you have to compare it with Iran or Saudi Arabia to make it seem OK. "Oh, you think I'm a bad father? What about Alan Hawe?"

I don't respect your comment because you have failed to see that I didn't judge the US at all in my comment. If you are able to point out where I did please do so. Otherwise you should read people's posts before you dance around complaining about them.
