One of my all time favourite comedies.
And one a lot of people don't know about.

There's a film with some of the characters called In the Loop that's hilarious too.

Same people are also behind Veep and The Death of Stalin.

Every single character is fantastic. It all doesn't fall to Malcolm (who is genius) :D

Peter Mannion is my favourite but there are some other tremendous characters.

I'd love to see Malcolm, "Brexit?! What the f*ck is a Brexit? It sounds like a sh*t after you've had a ready brek. Brexit?!"

I googled it when I saw this thread yesterday hoping the same thing but sadly no.

Armando Iannucci reason, real politics has become to ridiculous to satire which is a sad state of affairs :D

Series 1-3 are great. Skip 4: it's muck. Very disappointing.

I thought it was brilliant and only watched it really recently having only heard about it really through this forum.

There just is a real charm to is and wit to the writing. No Surprise really that Capaldi carries the whole thing on his back and while the final season is a bit of a let down the last episode is excellent he has three amazing.

One thing that I actually meant to look up and never did was there a special, large gap in time or something between season 3 & 4. How Glen switches side and there is a change in government etc. I remember watching first episode of season 4 and really taking a few minutes to get my bearings

Ianucci is a legit comedy genius, Death of Stalin maybe up there with his finest work - especially for how brilliantly its dark heart balanced the comedy.

I was playing golf with Stephen Hawking, he was terrible, *ucker lied about his handicap!

Rewatched it again recently. The two one hour Nutter episodes are so frantic, it's amazing television.

The Rise of the Nutters. Pure Gold :D

On of my fav quotes was from Stewart Pierson to Peter Mannion...."you were drinking champagne during the day in the middle of a recession. Who do you think you are, P Diddy??"

I really don't think they would get away with this today.

    Brilliant show.

Series 3 was aired in 2009 and series 4 was in 2012. In the Loop happened between those two series, but was sort of a separate 'world', with only the characters of Malcolm and Jamie (the crossest man in Scotland) crossing over. Ollie became 'Toby' and Glenn became 'Michael'.

I loved this and didn't realise it was now on Netflix. Thanks for the headsup!

The Thick Of It is up there with Fawlty Towers, Father Ted, I'm Alan Partridge, Seinfeld, Curb and early Arrested Development as one of the best comedies of all time. Classic! It also gave us a movie that is arguably even funnier than the series.

I must also echo the love for Peter Mannion. Roger Allam gave one of the best comedic performances in years and I don't think he got enough praise for it when the show was on.

Acosta, I love Peter Mannion. My only gripe is, he's not in the whole bloody series :D. His meeting the school kids when he was peddling some App is quality gold :pac:

The first minister from Series 1 and 2 , Hugh Abbot played by Chris Langham got into personal troubles I believe and had to be made disappear fast...

Malcolm's certainly in my top 5 comedic characters of all time.

"The one about the ****ing space hairdresser and the cowboy. He's got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin. His father's a robot and he's ****ing ****ed his sister. Lego. They're all made of ****ing Lego."

You are not a grandee, you are a ****ing blandee. No one knew what the **** you stood for. Political ****ing mist, no substance, no weight. You've got all the charm of a rotting teddy bear by a graveside.

By the way: women ****ing hate you. I can show you the polling. They think you come across like a jittery mother at a wedding. The best thing you ever did in your flatlining non-leadership was call for an inquiry, because that will **** the government and it will **** you.

So now, please, just **** off back to your home, you headless frump, and prepare for your column in Grazia.

Nicola: It has become apparent to me that I no longer have the full support of the party.
Malcolm: You never had the support of the party, you big bag of ****ing useless doubt.
