I am swapping a tractor, digger, quad and a few trailers from my fathers name to mine so I can put in all machinery together for insurance renewal.

My issue is that there are no log books or proof of ownership for the digger quad or trailers.......is the owner registered somewhere and if so how do I change the owner .

    TIA

Just tell them they are Yours. Changed farm insurance this year and they never looked for log book for tractors.

Is there number plates on vehicles with no log book? If there is it's just a case of filling in lost documentation form.

If not then they are insured using vehicle chassis numbers in which case there is no registered owner. Legally a tax book is not proof of ownership anyway. So basically if insurance is based on chassis number they can't prove one way or the other who the actual owner is, but if they insure the vehicles on this basis then they can't use it against you.

Also go into insurance company with your Dad and get existing policies transfered into your name as you may find it hard to get quotes for vehicle without a registration plate as a new customer.

You've stumbled on the most simple solution.

He just needs to change his name by deed poll

    Easy peasy ;)
