refused DPD delivery so they delivered again?

    Hey guys.

So in a bit of an annoying situation this evening, I ordered a tyre online last week from Germany, however as i sold the vehicle 2 days later i contacted the company to cancel the order, they informed me that the order had already been shipping and the easiest thing for me to do would be to refuse delivery from DPD for the tyre as this was their standard procedure for cancelled items.

Which i did do on friday, unfortunately today whilst i was at college the DPD driver came back to my house with the tyre, my mother told him that we did not want the tyre and would be refusing delivery however the driver then insisted that this was a different tyre and my mother reluctantly took it on the offchance that i had ordered another one.

I hadn't and its the same tire with the same tracking number which I still have to get back to the sender.

Do I have any comeback with DPD over this, or am i going to be expected to pony up for return shipping now that the driver has tricked us into taking and signing for it?

I’d just pay for the return of the tyre. Refusing delivery sounds unfair on dpd.

Being honest, I don’t know why couriers deal with the public, it must cost them a fortune.

The sender would pay for the return.

DPD get paid by the sender for the return, so they don't lose out. What I think is unfair is a DPD driver lying to someone to get a delivery done, despite being told it was refused.

Would the driver if he was a contractor get paid if he didn't get it delivered?

    Doubt it now.

So looks like this reached any easy resolution.

I contacted the seller via email to tell them what had happened requesting further instructions(and also CC'd DPD customer service).

Sender quickly came back to me asking for an address so we could arrange pickup of the tyre. no issues but then again it is a fairly big german company ive used before and will be happy to use again :)

This seems to be the biggest issue behind the whole thing.

What on earth were you doing?

how is that at all an issue :D.

The vehicle that the tyre was destined for failed in a remote location and had to be traded in at a considerable loss. I had been planning on holding on to it otherwise.

This meant the item was no longer needed and had to be returned as per the companys return policy?
