Ash trees for hurleys

    Hi all..I am looking for ash trees for Hurley making..I am only looking for the bottom 1.3 m of the tree..if anyone knows anybody thinning or clear felling ash please contact me ..thank you

    How much are you paying?
    Will you harvest the butts yourself?
    I'm doing second thin on 40 acres this year, there is some ash suitable for hurleys in the mix.

    Would trees like these suit? The penknife stuck in is for scale and is 3 1/2" long.

    Do they have to be half dug out, to get the curved part to make the hurley, or how do you harvest them?

    Yes need to dig down to get curve on grain for hurley
