Was there many at the IFJ’s beef summit last night in Ballinasloe. I’d be interested to hear what other people thought of it. Lots of very understandable anger and frustration from the floor but the way large parts of the crowd descended into mob like behavior was very counterproductive, in fact I witnessed a number of Beef Plan members removing their yellow vests when it started to get ugly. IFA’s Liam McHale spoke well and interestingly enough only one of two speakers that wasn’t heckled. ICBF came in for a fair amount of what was in my opinion unjustified criticism and there’s no doubt that this is being driven from the various breed societies involvement in the Beef Plan.

One mans mob behaviour is another mans voicing his frustration at a system that is unfair and anticompetitive.

If it were a French meeting likely the top table would have been showered with slurry so wasn’t bad at all in comparison.

And then RTE give MII the Air Space for the news report, who starts some waffle talk about prices being 2.80/kg at some stage.
Gob****es in RTE...why not let some of the farmers talk

Joe Walsh stopped meeting with sheep farmers years ago because of similar treatment, It was foolish of the organisers to set up that meeting, it wasn't going to achieve anything. Indeed the speakers were foolish to be there too. Both Cormac Healy and Bord Bia should've known they'd achieve nothing by speaking after the last meeting
