So My son has been saving his cash for a couple of years now and finally has enough to get himself a good PC. We are going to build it together so should be fun. Wow thanks for the list. I'm just wondering would it be a real benefit if I spent a bit more on a better gfx card? Like a 2070 maybe...

RTX 2070 -- no.
RTX 2060 -- maybe (depending on title).

The 2060 can reach near-2070 performance, and overall is around 33% faster than 1660 for 46% more money.
However, the GTX 1660 is perfectly suited to 1080p gaming.

Also. As regards the case. Do I need to get extra fans or anything? I have a be quiet 120w cooler I think will work with the Ryzen 5 so can save some cash there

The Corsair 275R contains 2x 120mm fans pre-installed, and can take an additional 2x front + 3x top-mounted 120mm - however, more fans are not 100% necessary.

I included the AMD Wraith Max as it's a good cooler for the price & has RGB bling.

Regarding RTX 2060, I'd probably stick to EVGA for the warranty/customer support.
Alternatively, the MSI Ventus has a good cooler without a massive premium.

Thanks very much for all your help. I really appreciate it. I'm going to start ordering all the stuff tomorrow. Is there anything else I'd need...like any cables or anything? Oh and where should I get a copy of Windows from?

Create Windows 10 installation media <- click that, put onto a 16Gb+ USB thumb drive, install & skip activation.
You can always buy an OEM key if you get the watermark & want to get rid of it, but the above is free, from Microsoft & just works.

You shouldn't need any other cables, though I can recommend the following:

• Magnetic screwdriver/parts tray
• anti-static wrist strap
• oversize (XXL) mouse mat (for gaming on)
• Decent headset (huge choice these days, just google "best headset 2019")
