I'm sure there are some benefits that I'm missing. Can anyone who has used the card tell me about how it works?

You load the card up with local currency and you spend it as is

As antodeco said once you exchange euro to whatever the local currency is, you use the card as though it was issued by a bank in that country, no longer having to worry about being charged every time that you use your card. The currency conversion rate uses interbank rate (Mon-Fri) and so is very competitive.

In comparison my traditional bank charges 2.75% of the transaction for every time that I use my card to purchase something and $1.50 charge for cash withdrawals.

With more and more of the world going either chip&pin or contactless I find that I don't use the $200 ATM limit (Monthly limit of $5000 for non AM transactions).

You load it with your local currency for free and you spend it as the destination local currency. . .for free. You only need a data signal on your phone to top it up so you don't need to stash large amounts on it - once setup, it takes a few seconds to load more funds to it.

It has enabled added perks like getting xbox and netflix subs for cheap from foreign lands.

I've used Revolut in Poland, the UK, the US, Croatia and Macedonia without problems. I avoided all of my banks own charges for using a non euro currency. I didn't take out any cash in some of these countries either (Poland, the UK) so I wasn't stuck with notes and coins I couldn't spend or would have just spent for the sake of getting rid of them.

I use the card for Amazon purchases a lot as well (paying in Sterling).

I know in Ireland people use the card for day to day transactions as well. Most banks charge per transaction if your account balance is below a certain amount to qualify for free day to day banking. Instead of tapping your BOI card and getting charged just tap your topped up Revolut instead.

you dont need to store any local currency on it. Just put your euro on the card. and it will automatically deduct foreign equivalent at the best exchange rate it can do. I use it everywhere and find that the cash limit is not an issue normally, just the odd time they dont take card

Probably best asked in the Banking forum which has a Revolut megathread.

For online purchases, some sites are very picky about your exact address used on your Revolut card.
Worth checking the address on your customer account vs. your Revolut address.
I normally use PayPal with AliExpress, as the amounts for me are usually small.
