This was advertised on Vodafone Fantastic Fridays a month or so ago. Its the first month only for one course that they are offering. Most courses require multiple modules. I don't think you are getting a better deal than registering directly
I signed up for the Leadership and Management Course - the content is pretty good but the presenter/lecturer is grating. 1st module almost over. 3months to complete the course will cost about €100, which is a bargain either way..

Watch out for signing up to any free trial from Shaw Academy. I cancelled within my trial period and was charged over a month later. It has been happening a lot, just look at their social media or recent trustpilot reviews.

wouldnt go near these guys. they provided my details to a 3rd party to try to sell me stuff.

3rd party were very economical with the truth when i asked them who they were and how they got my details. started off telling me they were Shaw academy. deep digging into it and eventually get told they werent.

Saw this on vodafone deal a while back too.
They're not great. Consider them dipping your toe into learning something new. You are hardly going to get a job from the course alone tho.

I signed up with these guys last month, they bombarded me with phone calls, emails and texts to the point of harassment. Was a nightmare to cancel too, eventually did though.

Similar experience here. Put me right off.

Folks, I've signed up for free trial and literally now realise how scammy it is. They require you to require them between 9 to 5 IST indian time off a Dublin number that is actually no doubt a stupid premium number. Is it possible to get stopped my account? I'm nervous who now has my bank details.

Absolute scam outfit, surprised they're allowed operate in this country. Took money from me by deception (site is loaded with hidden 'one click buys') plus to cancel you need to go through four hard sell web pages designed to get you to click the wrong button and after all that.....you have to ring them and again get a hard sell and three attempts to trick you into pressing the wrong option. Unbelievable. Prepare to be absolutely bombarded with texts, WhatsApp messages and emails too. They also don't stop sending you texts despite replying STOP and eventually require you to log into a webpage to stop texts (illegal afaik).

I totally agree, the 'irish' who supposedly run and own such an outfit should be mortified. They would honestly make more money if they did it right rather than having people like me wanting 'out' within minutes of signing up. How did they take money from you? When you rung the number did you actually get it cancelled.

I did a course on it recently, and was delighted with it. Really good content and very engaging. I didn't however pay the fee for the diploma at the end as it isn't worth anything.

Remember to remove your card details from the system after registering, then they cant take any payments in a months time.

Yes I had the misfortune of signing up for a "free" course with these offered via Bord Gais. They are a scam. My advice would be to cancel your membership immediately and remove any card details (or remove automatic payments in Paypal if you went this route). Essentially they will move your "free" membership onto a monthly paid membership quietly after 28 days (they don't even wait a month!). You won't get any emails from them informing you of this and you won't get any email alerting you that your free membership is about to be rolled over to a paid one. They simply charge your card immediately once the 28 days expire (to the hour!). I eventually got back the €49.99 they tried to take off me but only after I alerted Bord Gais to their practices and copied them on an email. The previous attempts to have it refunded were rebuffed with a load of waffle. Stay clear of them.
NOTE: They will claim this is all legitimate and that you are made aware of this when signing up. They even try and claim they are like Netflix! In my case it was something I had missed so I definitely learned my lesson there. I'm just glad to get out of it and won't go near them again.

I phoned this morning and after a few attempts and waiting for ages I eventually got through to "an indian call centre". I literally didnt give her an inch to ask me her stupid questions and demanded they cancel me asap and I wanted an email to confirm. Meanwhile, I have got the bank to block payments to them and issue me a new bank card just incase they still try take money out after the month.

How do I remove my card details?

Absolute embarrassment of an Irish company. They reality is if they weren't so scammish, I would likely have done some of the courses and they may actually have got a few months subs out of me.

This is the thing. By most accounts their content is quite good, it's the way they operate is the problem

I actually signed my 11 year old up to the free trial of the Photography course and he enjoyed it. Had it in my calendar to cancel in time and duly went about it but first tried to see if I could purchase just the single course. They have a number of links re extra course material and diploma etc which have a discreet 'one click purchase' note next to them which I copped but on another page they had a link to the extra course material where the 'one click purchase' was in a different part of the page. I clicked it thinking it would show the content of the material (which wasn't stated anywhere) but instead got instantly charged €30! Got my money back eventually after repeated emails which they ignored at first. Of interest, I have a contact in a 'large online payment company' who looked at the site and reckons the purchase links are not kosher with Paypal rules for merchants.

The cancellation is a joke - FOUR times you have to click cancel and on each page the big red button is actually to take your money immediately with the cancel link hidden below. And it's not 'sign up' or 'cancel' either - it's literally stuff along the lines of 'click here to become a success in life' and 'click here because you're a failure' (i.e. cancel). After all this you then need to phone them and same craic again, and the options are presented in order to trick you if not listening closely (the 'press 1 to be super successful' is done twice in a row - someone not paying attention might presume the second option is the cancellation when it's actually another sign up).
