    Hi all.

    I've Hyundai i40

Few days ago it wouldn't start. I thought it might be the battery so I jumped it and it started and ran for 3 days with no problem.

I drove home from work today .. went into the house for 10 min. Came out to go somewhere and it wouldn't start again.

It might be that it needs a new battery.. I recorded this sound .. does it sound like a battery issue ..or something else.

    Thanks

Engine is turning over so there's some life in the battery.

    Battery is fooked....

Alternator may not be charging right either.

There was another boardsie a while back with the same issue and it seems a common fault but he wasn't getting anywhere with dealer and car was quite new.

Anyone know a mechanic that would be able to replace at my home. Tallaght area.

Could be dodgy spark plugs aswell. The jump from the other car could be giving them enough life.

Had the same problem with my i40 a few months ago.

Started no bother some times, wouldn't other times. Went on for a few weeks.

Then one day it just wouldn't start anymore.

New battery solved the issue, and no problems since.

Just make sure if/when you replace it, that you get a battery with the Stop/Start. Much more expensive, but it is needed.

    ..

Try jump starting it again. If it starts go straight to motor factors and get a battery. You can easily replace yourself, if not they should help if quiet.

The original batterys in those i40's weren't great, fairly prone to failure by comparison to others.

Any good with a multimeter? first thing I would do is test the battery voltage, then if it starts, test it again. This will show if the battery has proper voltage and with the engine running, it will show the voltage from the alternator recharging the battery.

If you dont have one, it only takes two mins and I am in tallaght.
