Heathrow Connection

Hey guys, I'm just wondering how long it takes to get through heathrow airport. I'm looking at a 7:15pm flight to Tokyo. There are three possible flights I could take to Heathrow, one arrives at 4pm, the next 5:20pm and the last 6:20pm. The middle one is the most attractive to me, it leaves Dublin at at 3:50pm. It's just I've never been to Heathrow and I'm not sure how long it takes to get around, go through security etc.

Most obvious question - will you need to change terminals?

Second question - from the wording of your OP, I'm assuming you're talking about entirely independent flights, so neither your luggage nor you will be checked through? If so, that's a big gamble - the queues for security could be minimal or horrendous, with no real way of knowing in advance.

Arriving at 5.20pm for a 7.15 is cutting it fine OP - what if it's delayed taking off from here?
Heathrow security are really strict about cut off times. Heathrow is huge and as Heidi says if you have to change terminals that's a long walk, bus or even the tube to navigate.

Are you travelling on the one ticket ?

Or are they two different bookings ?

Thanks guys, this is what I was wondering about. Yes, they would be independent flights, Aer Lingus to Heathrow, and then Japan Airlines to Tokyo. I guess I won't go then - I wasn't 100% sold on it. I've just checked Aircoach and no...I wouldn't be able to make the earliest Aer Lingus flight at all. I'll instead wait until next year to go to Tokyo. My only option at this point for the October trip would be to get a flight leaving Heathrow at 3:45pm Saturday, getting into Narita at 11:15am local time Sunday...but this leaves me with a few hours to burn until standard hotel check in times, I lose the Saturday and since this is only until the Friday of the coming week (since I only have a week off work, which I cannot change) and the costs of flights, hotels and everything else is so high...it wouldn't be worth it.

The earliest flight you were looking at gets into Heathrow at 4 p.m. which means it departs Dublin at about 3 p.m. - where are you coming from that an Aircoach can't get you to Dublin airport by 3 p.m.?
