Huawei HG659 dropping out

I have the Huawei HG659 router (Vodafone broadband) at home. Lately I've noticed it drops out every now and then, it's very annoying obviously. Now I have also noticed it drops out when there are three phones connected to it, plus my PC (over ethernet).

Now not everyone may be streaming videos or anything at the time for the router to drop out but I'm aware today with various social media apps they are pretty much always grabbing data etc.

Should this router be able for this sort of connectivity or do I need to upgrade to something else or just contact Vodafone?

Does the modem reboot or just loose sync?

hmm, that's actually a good question. I assumed it was losing connectivity but now that you mention it the down time is consistent with that of a reboot. And once it's back it will be OK for a while before happening again.

If it was a reboot is this a sign of something like a crash etc?

Reboot and resync times are quite similar. VDSL can take 90s ish to come back up, problematic lines can be slow.

If you login and check the stats you'll see Uptime. If its up for say 3 days but the connection has dropped more recently its probably a sync issue.

I had constant sync issues but modem stayed on. Turned out to be wire issue in junction box.

thanks for the feedback folks, I'll check the up time on the router.
It just seems too much of a coincidence that it happens when the missus and daughter come into the house, it's as if once
more draw on the bandwidth happens it drops.

That was same with me, the dodgy wire caused sync issues when loaded. No issues one wire was replaces

And tell me, what wire is it? The one going into the box that the phone line and DSL cable are coming out of?
