Lavender variety question

Hi All,

I'm looking for the exact lavender variety as seen in modern gardens today.

I bought some lavender munstead dwarf seeds and planted them - they look very much the variety I described above. However in a local plant store yesterday I came across another lavender variety - lavandula augustifolia. There were small versions of it available for just €3 and couldn't resist to pick one up!

So I guess my question is - is there much difference in the 2 varieties? Which variety is more common in modern gardens today?

So you were probably looking at the same cultivar twice.

Both Munstead and Hidcote are cultivars of Angustifolia species. Did your plant tag for the one you bought have the cultivar name on it? It could be either of them, or another cultivar.

Thank you. I'll check shortly as it's still in the pot as I bought it.
