Can't get any contact from them, and the phone keeps coming up with "connection failed, reason 500" which seems to indicate some <other> failure at the provider's end.
I notice the Customer Portal on their website is now defunct, last week it was working.
Ho-hum, I only had a tenner in there, so not a lot of money lost.
Pity really, they suited me very well - dirt cheap calls and virtually no upkeep costs.

    Pity.

For outgoing calls I have been using https://freevoipdeal.com for some years, thankfully without any problems at all.

Something not quite right about their site, it doesn't have a secure connection (https in the address bar gives a warning that it's not secure).

    https://www.irishvoip.ie

If you paid through Paypal you might be able to get some/all of your money back

That comes up ok, but it's not actually usable any more.
Even trying to reg as a new customer doesn't work.

Think I'll be trying them next. It works out about the same as I was paying.

It does present a difficulty if you do not have a dial plan set up.
As they are based outside Ireland you need to use the international code to dial in ...... I have no idea if irishvoip.ie were similar or not.

I have mine set up to replace a single leading 0 with 353 for local calls.

Irishvoip.ie's system was a bit hit-and-miss from time to time, but it coped with normal local dialling ok. Once or twice I had to put in the full international string.
I noticed in the fortnight before they went belly-up, the dialling was getting a bit more flaky, with wrong numbers and plenty of mysterious silences.
Bad timing really - if I'd held off paying them more money I could have saved my tenner. The initial 'free' Euro's worth of calls was still only half gone after a year, so there was no rush to top it up.

SIP servers for Irish VoIP and freevoipdeal are both in Switzerland which indicates that IrishVOIP were just retailing minutes from the same wholesaler and maybe they are no longer a customer of the wholesaler.

    When did it stop working?

Maybe try changing the transport protocol between UDP and TCP. Although if they aren't linked to the wholesaler anymore, that won't fix anything.

Irish VoIP web site not having https is a bad sign so even if it does return, you might want to switch to another provider anyway.

In regards to dial prefixes, sipdiscount dials a number the same way as if dialling from a normal phone (dialling 087, 01, 021 works). But it's always a good idea to set all numbers with '+353....' prefix

    To update;
Gone with freevoipdeal and installed seamlessly. One thing that's handy is that it seems I can use my mobile number as outgoing Caller ID, which I couldn't do with the other one.
I'll have to test it further, as calling my mobile from the voip phone sent my mobile into a spaz as it tried to answer itself.
