Android for around €500

Recently had my two year old HTC U11 taken (robbed) on me, so on the look out for a new phone.

Have an old phone to tie me over for the time being but would like to pick up a new phone in the next month for around €500 euro or so, willing to go to €600 at a push.

Ideally just something not too big, a good camera and just a decent performance.

Is it worth waiting for the OnePlus 7 (if it is around €600) or going for an Xiaomi Mi9 or any other suggestions?

My knowledge of whats out there is not great and my last 3 phones have all been HTC's but looking to try something different.

    Thanks

I think the rumors are that the OP7 will cost a bit more than that unfortunately but it would be a good phone to get alright if you can stretch the budget.

Think there's a new Honor phone coming out soon that will have really good camera and specs on a budget price.

mi 9 - 449 euro + delivery from Amazon Spain

to be honest the mi 9 se would probably do you well - 292 from eglobal (10 days delivery approx, no customs). bit smaller than mi 9, still a good cpu, just a little down on camera specs but still main, wide angle +zoom. super AMAOLED screen and in-screen fingerprint reader.

They've probably the best bang for buck phones on the market. OP phones are better but they've really increased the price since coming onto the scene.

the cameras have never been great on the one plus phones comparatively to what else is on the market at the time though.

If you're buying a phone for a camera you're doing it wrong.

rubbish, you may be buying a phone with a better camera though as an important consideration for sure.

the best camera is the one that you have with you is so true.

dlsrs and even compact cameras you are not going to have have with you a lot and are not convenient to carry around in a lot of situations.

This. Anybody can spend thousands on a dslr and lens but phone camera quality has come on leaps in recent times.

You're completely contradicting yourself so with your recommendations. Xiaomi have some of the worst cameras on the market for the budgets they're in. I'd steer well clear of Xiaomi if it's a camera you're after. They've not got it right, yet.

Mi 9 rated up at the top with p30 , S10 and apple for half the price

So you are the one talking through your rear end!

Thanks folks for your replies, may hold off until the OnePlus 7 comes out and see the prices.

Failing that the Xiaomi Mi9 looks the best alternative in terms of quality & price.

Maybe the forthcoming Redmi Snapdragon 855 phone?
Rumoured to be announced this month.
Similar camera arrangement to Mi S9.
Should have 4000mAh battery, NFC, Amoled 1080p screen, and a headphone jack.
Popup front camera so no notch.
