Short Time Working Dragging On

My employer told me that, due to a downturn in income, he needed to temporarily reduce my hours from full time to a 3-day week. No firm commitment was given, but he expressed the hope that after 3 months things would be back to normal. 9 months later, nothing has changed and very little information has been forthcoming about how things stand or what the prospects are. Needless to say, I’m getting fed up. I’ve been with the company for over 10 years and this seems a very unfair way to treat staff.

I’m at the point where I want to give the boss an ultimatum: put me back full time or make me redundant. My question is, could he say he can’t afford to make me full time but refuse to make me redundant, and if I don’t like it I should just leave?
