Vlan Id for Vodafone TV Siro FTTH

I'm trying to switch out the stock vodafone router for my own Netgear Nighthawk R7000. I have broadband working but no TV. I have set the Vlan Id to 10 and priority 0. Is there a separate Vlan Id needed for the TV port?

I'm not aware of anyone that has posted about getting TV working with a third party router.

There might be a way of sniffing the traffic but if you don't have the equipment you're out of luck. You'll need a switch capable of port mirroring and a Linux machine running Wireshark. Mirror the STB switch port to the Linux machine and capture the traffic. Alternatively mirror the Vodafone router's WAN port to Linux while starting the STB connected to the router.

Vodafone in NZ are not using separate VLANS. They seem to be using Multicast or Unicast for newer subscriptions.

With that in mind have you enabled IGMP proxying in the R7000? If not reboot the router then STB after enabling.

Yes I've enable IGMP, no joy. The TV box shows up as an attached device but nothing getting through.

I have the router on PPOE, but by the looks of it the TV needs DHCP. It even has a different external IP address (see screenshot)

Any ideas how to get a configuration like this? (Whether Netgear, dd-wrt or any other router)

I'm not sure what is going on there to be honest. 10.x.x.x addresses are private and not publicly routable on the internet.

If Vodafone are mirroring the OpenEir/OpenReach convention with SIRO you'll need to actually use the IPOE link. That might require killing the PPPoE link first.

I'm going to guess that it is an issue with IGMP. Either the router doesn't fully support it

Options for icmp are on or off and enable support for BT telecom. I think you're right, doesn't look like the router supports it properly.

Plan was to buy something with mesh Wi-Fi, just wanted to see it working on my current router first before I spend 400 EUR on it.

I suppose I could always have a mesh router plugged in as an AP just for the WiFi and leave the Vodafone do the routing.

And leads to my other problem with the Vodafone router that I'll need to sort first, I can't get RDP to work on it....

I don't see any mention of ipoe settings in the Netgear router at all.

Auto/DHCP = IPoE.
