Has anyone every had experience with varicocele? I'm pretty sure I have it quite bad and am looking for peoples experiences. Also if anyone knows a doctor in South Dublin ideally on dart line.

    Currently don't have a gp

Having the same issue myself at the moment.
Currently an aching nightmare when active.
I'm in with my GP next week to see about getting it sorted.
Unfortunately not in Dublin, so I cant advise you there.

I am finding a bit of relief via an athletic support during the day and some ice every now and lying down any chance I get.

It is a horrible achy balls of a pain tho, even down to bloody nausea!

A Varicocele is basically a varicose vein on your testicles.
An athletic support cups and supports the testicles and relieves the ache that sometimes come with a Varicocele.

Fairly common issue, but usually quite benign and painless an develop into something very uncomfortable.

I had the surgery to fix it. Years ago now and had complete success... No more dragging pain or aches. Completely recommend getting it done.. painful for a few days afterwards but.....worth it.

Mine has developed into something called a "Thrombosis Varicocele".

Currently on bed rest and Opioids pain relief.
The pain was intense, referred pain over my entire lower left side and up to my kidney.

Was admitted to hospital on Monday, and the urology registrar was all for slicing it out.
Unfortunately the consultant has decided to continue with the conservative treatment for the moment.

The pain associated with a thrombosis Varicocele is apparently quite a rare complication, but being a medical marvel ;) is scant balance for the intense pain.

Bedrest with elevation of my left side does make q huge difference to the pain.
Any movement or being upright for any length of time however and I can only describe the pain as extreme and disabling.

    Still laid up with this.
Saw a second Urologist and the opinion is at the moment to continue with pain management.
His experience is that flair ups of this nature can last up to 3 months and that surgery often provides no immediate relief.
So pain management is more appropriate than a slice ;)

The last ultrasound also showed up some grit/debris on my left kidney so I am waiting on a low dose CT scan to check over whole left side, renal and testicular.

I'm still laid up on neuropathic pain relief meds and Oxy 3/4 times a day.
Can just about manage 15/20 mins upright before the pain becomes severe.

It's no fun, but hopefully will get resolved soon.
