Miserable conditions although it mustn't be too cold as there are lots of unzipped gilets.

Cavendish wasn't even wearing one at the start when I was watching earlier and it was lashing.

Did you see that! Flag got caught in Jesper Asselman's bars during the sprint!

Another 2 inches to the right and it could have been nasty.

Three Irish cyclists competing with British Continental level teams have been selected for the Tour de Yorkshire; Chris McGlinchey, Robbie McCarthy and Rory Townsend.

McGlinchey has been given the nod by his Vitus Pro Cycling team. Townsend and McCarthy will ride the race for Canyon dhb p/b Bloor Homes.

It is an excellent opportunity for all three; getting to ride against some of the biggest teams in the world, including a Chris Froome-led Team Ineos.

Interestingly, there are just four WorldTour teams in the race. Because of that, the field is perhaps weaker this year.

However, while that may give the small squads in the race a better chance of taking a stage win or even a good placing will be a very difficult task.

Of the Irish trio named by the British teams for the race, Townsend is the former rider having really excelled so far this year.

Another lovely day for bike riding in Yorkshire from the look of it.

    Kelly Murphy in break.

I was laughing when the wee baby Diegnan got interested in the mic when her mammy was being interviewed.

Womens race on ITV 4 again at the minute. Not sure why it was neutralised for a while earlier?

Anna Van der Breggen currently out in front on her own with a 40 second gap on what has to be the best looking bike in the pro peleton.

Eddie was fantastic today, and clearly has the confidence of the team. Bernal is now out of the Giro having broken his collarbone in a training spill yesterday...........while there will be plenty vying for the spot, Eddie will have done himself no harm by that performance today.

Moscon also out of the Giro and Eddie told cycling news this earlier:
Eddie Dunbar confirmed to Cyclingnews on Sunday morning that he was in the frame to take a spot, while the squad also have to replace Gianni Moscon, who has been removed from the provisional line up for reasons not yet explained.

They seem be considering a change of goals rather than have someone there for GC so maybe send Eddie and look for stage wins? Fingers cross for the lad.

What's Moscon been up to now that they pulled him out
