I think the organisations buy houses or are gifted houses and raffle them. Then they make more money from the raffle than the cost of the house.

Only 8? You have to aim for 15 or 16 now. :)

Fine Gael solving the housing crisis one raffle at a time. "what's that Leo? You say you have the winning ticket?"

    Glazers Out!

€100 a ticket x 10,000 tickets is €1,000,000, less a cost price house @€;150,000-200,000, and a few other token prizes and you have plenty of easy money for the clubs. The builder/developer gets some "free" advertising.

I don't see an issue with it, buy a ticket or don't. What's the problem.

Where the f**k are they getting these houses to raffle off?

I heard that Margaret Cash plans to raffle off a couple of them too.
    Funds for college, I believe.

They've been flogging one up in Donegal for about a year now. Obviously not selling enough tickets to cover the cost.

there is an even better government scheme, where you dont have to pay an entry fee. You simply get your forever home, could be worth €700-800,000. You pay a minuscule amount of "rent" on it, with the free money you get, from the dual income gob****es working 50+ hours a week next door!

They usually have a few prizes but they're token at best.
    1st prize €400k house
2nd prize €10 in butter vouchers

Unfortunately this is the best chance to own your own home for many of the “working poor”.
